Worldwide study creates new model of first-line leadership

has published the results of a 2015 study that isolates key skills and attributes of effective first-line leaders all over the world. "The Universal Leader: A Single World Voice on Superior First Line Leadership" offers a fresh model of successful first-line leadership, outlining 14 skills encompassing four "core capabilities" that boost the engagement and performance of individual contributors.

The bottom line is a remarkably consistent global description---with some key regional differences---of effective first-line leadership.

Because first-line leaders oversee approximately 80 percent of the workforce, application of these findings promises measurable impact on business performance.
