New Study from Wahl® Confirms Traveling is Indeed a Pain Three out of four Americans getting away this spring likely to experience 'bumpy ride'

STERLING, Ill., March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- More than one-third of Americans will hit the road or sky for a long distance trip this spring. And though the destination might be easy and breezy, odds are the journey getting there won't be. A new study from Wahl Therapeutic Massagers shows that physical aches and soreness are a real threat to travelers of all ages. In fact, 92 percent of adults 18 years of age and older experience physical pain while traveling.

The study covered various modes of transportation: airplane, train, bus and personal vehicle. Across all four modes of transport, the three types of pain travelers experience most often are back (54 percent), leg (39 percent) and neck (21 percent). As for the most painful modes of traveling, four in five people cite air and bus travel as the most pain inducing.

"Traveling long distances can put a lot of stress on muscles and joints, especially when cramped or left inactive for long periods of time," said Jenny McLaughlin, product manager for Wahl Therapeutic Massagers. "The good news for travelers is that simple techniques such as massage therapy before and after the trip can help alleviate muscle tension by increasing blood flow."

To help those on the go, Wahl offers a complete line of massage therapy products, including the compact Flex Therapy Massager. It's cordless for convenience yet delivers the necessary power to help travelers get back on their feet. The flexible neck conforms to all areas of the body to target specific pain points for quick and effective relief. It features more than two hours of run time on one charge. The Wahl Flex Therapy is available through Amazon and CVS with a MSRP of $24.99.
