New Training Books Aim to Help the Growing Hispanic Workforce in US
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Almost one quarter of the current US workforce is Hispanic, and that number is predicted to soar to 55% of the nation's workforce by 2050. Given that over half of Hispanic workers report that they don't speak English very well, there is a huge and growing potential for errors caused by miscommunication or misunderstanding. This can lead to customer service issues, increased costs, lost productivity, and more.
That is why Axzo Press, a leading provider of workplace productivity courseware and materials, and KAMMS Worldwide, the founder of English on the Job® materials and learning solutions for the Hispanic workforce, have collaborated on a new series dedicated to bringing those essential workplace skills to the Hispanic audience. The combination of relevant workplace topics and essential English skills is meant to reduce the chance for miscommunication and errors, while improving overall productivity skills.
According to Stacey Kammerman, CEO of KAMMS Worldwide, "Language barriers can be costly -- not only do you risk mistakes, low productivity and customer service issues, but you also have an increased risk of accidents and high employee turnover. All of which can have a huge cost impact for the employer."
The first three books in the series, Attitude, Customer Service for the Retail Industry and Customer Service for the Hospitality Industry take popular titles from the Crisp Fifty-Minute Series and focus them for the Hispanic audience. The books have been translated into Spanish, and the two Customer Service titles also include an audio CD and written guide to teach essential English phrases that may be encountered in those roles. This is especially critical in the Retail and Hospitality industries which have a high concentration of Hispanic workers, and who also have a high probability of contact with English-speaking customers as a daily aspect of their jobs.
Jon Winder, CEO of Axzo Press, adds; "being able to expand the Crisp Fifty-Minute Series to reach this underserved audience is a natural progression for us. The series has always been about enhancing workplace productivity for everybody, in every role of an organization. We are pleased to be able to partner with KAMMS Worldwide on this important initiative."
