New Version of Carbon Calculator for Transportation and Trade Released by LOG-NET
Tool makes calculating carbon emission easier for international products, carriers and shipping
RED BANK, N.J., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- LOG-NET has released a new carbon calculator for transportation and international trade. The company noted that a single international container imported from Asia to the United States or Europe will cause the emission of 1.8 to 5 metric tons of CO2. Utilizing carbon management tools can potentially reduce the carbon emission one to two metric tons per container for the millions of containers transported globally each year.
Users can automatically upload, via spreadsheet, dozens, or thousands, of trailers or containers which will be stored on line for reporting and analysis of carbon emission generated across multiple modes of transportation.
"Earlier this year LOG-NET introduced the most sophisticated tool for the analysis of the CO2 emissions of goods moving in trade," noted John Motley president and CEO of LOG-NET, Inc. "Our original tool has been broadly used by companies looking to review their carbon emissions as well as ports, universities and local schools to assist in developing an understanding of carbon emissions in international trade." Now the capability has been extended to make bulk carbon rating of local and international cargo movements easy.
A new version of this tool now enables organizations to submit large sets of goods movements with hundreds or thousands of containers, trailers or airway bills. The system then rates trade lanes, origins and carriers for the organizations total carbon emissions in transportation. The new tool supports customs fields as well for summaries relevant to a specific organization.
The service is available now at www.LOG-NET.com/sustainability/
The tool also leverages the intelligence of leading edge web technology with:
- On-line drag and drop data mapping from your spreadsheet in to the carbon system
- Automatically link fields to where they need to go in the carbon database
- Intelligent determination of location information, distances, modes of transport and emission factors
- Custom summaries based on user defined attributes
"We continue to remain committed to the development of leading edge capability in all areas of international trade management," says Jonathan O'Keeffe, LOG-NET's Chief Technology Officer. O'Keeffe added that, "Carbon calculation in international trade can be very complex given the various vehicles, their sizes and routes. We are providing a solution that is easy to use but built upon complex engineering that would otherwise not be available to someone in commerce."
