New Video from America's Best-Loved Cartoonists + ICYMI News
NEW YORK, April 22, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being released by Mayors Against Illegal Guns:
Mayors Against Illegal Guns is today releasing a new animated short film that features the work of more than 20 of the nation's leading cartoonists demanding Congressional action to end gun violence in America. The film and a flip book of all the art created for the film are available at: http://www.demandaction.org/cartoonists
Organized by cartoonist Ruben Bolling, author of award-winning nationally syndicated comic strip "Tom the Dancing Bug," the film includes contributed panels from the following leading cartoonists: Lalo Alcaraz, Bill Amend, Ruben Bolling, Jim Borgman, Steve Brodner, Roz Chast, Jeff Keane, Rick Kirkman, Peter Kuper, Mike Luckovich, David Mazzucchelli, Stephan Pastis, Mike Peters, Lincoln Peirce, Dan Piraro, Ted Rall, Dave Roman, Jerry Scott, Art Spiegelman, Raina Telgemeier, Tom Tomorrow, Garry Trudeau and Mo Willems. All of the contributed art is original with the exception of Art Spiegelman's, which was originally published on the September 23, 1993 cover of The New Yorker.
Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore narrate the film and it was directed by Academy Award-winning producer/director Peggy Stern. The animation for the film was produced at Buffalo Pictures under the guidance of Brandon Roots and Paul Penczner and their team, all of whom met at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
And in case you missed it over the weekend, we wanted to make sure you saw two stories — in this weekend's New York Times and on CBS' Face the Nation -- on how gun violence survivors and family members will carry on the fight to Demand Action from Congress to pass commonsense gun reforms that will save lives and protect our communities. They tell their stories so that more Americans will not have their own gun violence stories to tell — please let us know if you'd like to speak with any of them.
