New Voice Analysis Software Will Change the World
Good Vibration Company enhances interaction between man and computer
RHENEN, the Netherlands, October 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Newly developed speech analysis software that recognises emotions in the voice will enhance interaction between people and computers, smartphones, apps and other mobile devices enormously in the coming years. Also the software can be deployed in health care and the medical world because it can detect moods, stress and other states of well-being,such as diseases like ALS and Parkinson, in one's voice.
The software of Dutch Good Vibrations Company BV (GVC) has been developed by professor Paul Boersma of the University of Amsterdam, one of the world's authorities in the field of phonetic sciences. Boersma has 25 years of experience. Among others he developed the well-known speech analysis program 'Praat', the world's most used software platform for academic speech research. Boersma is a partner and CSO of Good Vibrations Company.
The GVC-concept aims to enhance the performance of individuals and groups by analysing biological and other signals in their voice and providing relevant individual feedback that will promote the well-being and successful performance of people in private, business and other circumstances.
The applicability of the recognition software is endless. ,,Now that our software can recognize emotions directly from the voice, we can finally enable harmonious interactions between people and their mobile devices, and our apps can finally give personalized individual feedback that improves a person's performance and quality of life," Boersma states.
If robots in health care are equipped with it, they can measure the mood and condition of patients. To achieve this, the software analyzes many aspects of the voice, such as pitch, intensity, resonances, dullness, sharpness, softness, tempo, phrasing, dynamics and interrelationship of all those facets. In this way it can be derived whether someone is happy or sad, stressed or relaxed, angry or anxious. In addition, the software offers unprecedented possibilities in medical diagnostics, for developers and operators of informational software, games, dating industry and advertisers. By combining the software with personalised feedback, apps can deploy their recognition of a person's state of mind for the improvement of his or her well-being or performance in sports or business. GVC has already developed several demo apps that function independently of language and sex, making them deployable all over the world.
"Eventually this software will change the world. When the right technology partners hop on and start using the software we can bring an endless number of life-improving applications to the market," says CEO Han Brakké of GVC.
