New Washington Moves Initiative Inspires Good Health and Community Goodwill

SEATTLE, Sept. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- There's never been a better time for Washington residents to get their move on. From September 30 to October 27, 2013 Washingtonians are invited to join Washington Moves – a four-week fitness challenge powered by EveryMove that turns active living choices into donations for statewide charities. The sponsors, Premera Blue Cross, LifeWise Health Plan of Washington and Vivacity, have made it possible for Washingtonians to get moving for a good cause in an effort to raise a total of $100,000 for the following regional non-profits: the American Heart Association, Puget Sound; American Diabetes Association, Washington; Boys and Girls Club of Washington; YMCA of Spokane County; and United Way of Spokane County.

To get started with Washington Moves, participants can enroll online starting today at www.everymove.org/WAmoves. Enrollment will be open throughout the contest, but participants are encouraged to sign up early to help ensure the maximum charitable donation. Beginning September 30 through October 27, participants will track their "Active Days" through the web site or any number of fitness tracking devices connected to EveryMove, which will contribute to the charity challenge as well as their individual rewards. For every "active day" participants log, the featured sponsors will donate money to one of the five selected charities.

Washington Moves rewards participants with individual rewards but takes it a step further by benefitting others. "Sometimes we need a little nudge to get us moving, and even the smallest incentive can do the trick," said Russell Benaroya, CEO, EveryMove.
