Billion Dollar Social Gaming Industry Meets Charitable Giving for the First Time
CHICAGO, Dec. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Spin For Good (SpinForGood.com) announced today the launch of SpinForGood.com -- a first-of-its-kind social gaming non-profit company where all of the in-game donations are distributed to participating charity partners. One of the co-founders of Spin For Good is renowned economist Steven Levitt, co-author of the best-selling book Freakonomics.

Spin For Good works by giving donors the same social gaming experience they'd find from the most popular providers, but adds a competitive tournament aspect where players compete on behalf of their selected charity. Players have a chance at turning a small donation (say $5) into a large donation (hundreds of dollars or more) by competing in online tournaments. There's no risk for the players or the charities as 100% of the donations are distributed to the participating charities. Players compete for the chance to donate the largest portion of the prize pool to their selected charity - in their name. Imagine a thousand Robin Hoods playing Candy Crush for charity, and you start to get the idea.
"The world would be a better place if money spent on social gaming went to charity instead of into the pockets of social gaming companies." Steven Levitt
Spin For Good makes it efficient and cost-effective for participating charities to raise money. Participating in a Spin For Good donation tournament is a fraction of the cost of direct mail. The games are played completely online and donors are reached via email and social media. Spin For Good has launched with a handful of charity partners and they are actively signing up new charities who can contact them via [email protected].
Players of social games now have a virtuous way to kill time. You don't need to feel guilty for farming virtual produce for hours on end with nothing to show for it. As you climb the leaderboard in a Spin For Good tournament, you know that each position can mean real dollars for your charity (and even if you don't win, all of your money still goes to one of the great causes supported by the partner charities). Spin For Good has launched its first tournaments and will be rolling out new games and signing up more charities as often as possible. To Register and play, visit http://SpinForGood.com.
