New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council Presents 2012 Multicultural Sustainability Summit on October 9 in New York City

Spotlights Multicultural Green Tech and Fortune 1000 Collaborations

NEW YORK, Oct. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council (The Council) will spotlight green collaborations between innovative multicultural businesses and corporate America at the 2012 "Sustainability Summit: Be Eco Sharp" on October 9 at the Sentry Center, 810 Seventh Avenue in New York City from 7:30am5:00pm.

"Be Eco Sharp" examines green supplier diversity successes and ideas for viable corporate partnerships. There will be panels on sustainable technology; diversity & inclusion in advertising/media; the water market; alternate energy for commercial properties; reporting on green initiatives; financial institutions in the green supply chain; retaining green minority suppliers; sustainability camp for business leaders and an exclusive screening of "A Thirsty World" by filmmaker Yann Arthus-Bertrand at Time Warner presented by FraichePR.  Corporate match-making sessions will be held with green vendors. 

The winners of the nationwide multicultural business competition "Innovation Challenge: Driving Sustainability & Diversity," sponsored by InnoCentive, Inc. and The Council, will be saluted: AirShip Technologies Group in Oregon for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that has renewable solar energy with rechargeable ultracapacitors; Selco Industries in Ohio and NJ for green line of biodegradable desk accessories; Re-Nuble in Virginia for low carbon renewable energy and organic fertilizer through the food waste and Green Competitive Advantage in Connecticut for a youth green leadership program. Judges included: Ernst & Young; Obama Administration; New York Times; BNY Mellon; Environmental Defense Fund and Pfizer, Inc. The top 50 semi-finalists will be showcased.
