NEW YORK, April 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Five firefighters were injured while putting out a home fire in Queens, NBC reported. ("5 Firefighters Hurt Battling house Fire in Queens: FDNY, March 13, 2016). The fire broke out around 9 am last Sunday in the Flushing area of Queens, in the basement of a private home, the report said. The fire then quickly spread to the other floors of the home, triggering a response by over 100 firefighters.
Thankfully, within about an hour, the FDNY says it was able to get the fire under control. Also fortunately, the injuries to each of the five firefighters were deemed minor and all should expect a full recovery. The FDNY stated that the house had been heavily damaged, but that no case of the blaze had been determined.
"First of all, we should all express our gratitude to the men and women of the FDNY, who literally run to danger to keep us all safe," said Adnan Munawar, Partner at Munawar & Andrews-Santillo LLP. "That New York's bravest was able to get this fire under control so quickly and without any serious injuries is something we should all appreciate."
"While this particular instance appears as though it may be isolated and without serious incident, there are often fires or other building accidents that have far worse consequences. Especially when the building is an apartment or other shared residence and people suffer injuries, it can be difficult to identify all of the potential responsible parties. When you hire an experienced expert to represent your interests under such circumstances, you get someone who knows how to work with the right experts to investigate exactly what happened and to make sure that your rights are protected. Victims should not be forced to pay for the negligence or intentional acts of others, and the right attorney will work relentlessly to make sure they don't. Consulting with a personal injury attorney is always free, and you only pay a fee when you collect, so there is no reason not to pick up the phone and start protecting your rights immediately."
