Nigerian Embassy Hosts Press Conference with Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Nigeria
WASHINGTON, Nov. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- With less than a week before President Goodluck Jonathan officially announces his campaign for re-election in 2015, the Nigerian Embassy to the United States will host Prof. Attahiru M. Jega, the nation's top election official to a media chat on November 7, 2014.
Elections for the President and National Assembly members will take place on February 14, 2015. On February 28, 2015, the electorates will elect Governors and State Assembly representatives.
The mission of INEC is to serve as an independent and effective Election Management Body committed to the conduct of free, fair, and credible elections for sustainable democracy in Nigeria.
Professor Jega will deliver a brief statement and will field questions from reporters on issues relating to the plans, safeguards, and transparency of 2015's free and fair elections in one of the strongest democracies and economies on the African continent.
