NiSource Gas Transmission and Storage's Midstream Services Announces Major Investment in The Midstream Solution for Ohio Utica Shale
HOUSTON, Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- NiSource Gas Transmission and Storage's (NGT&S) Midstream Services announced a major midstream initiative in the liquids-rich fairway of the Utica play in eastern Ohio. The project includes the construction of an approximately 90-mile-long, large diameter gathering system utilizing Columbia Gas Transmission's existing right of way along its north/south-running V-100 and V-138 systems, extending through Columbiana, Carroll, Jefferson, Harrison, Belmont and Monroe counties. The system will provide for both wet and dry gas gathering.
In conjunction with the gathering project, NGT&S has purchased a 200 million cubic feet per day cryogenic natural gas liquids processing plant that will be delivered in July 2012. The plant and related facilities will be located at a midpoint on the wet section of the gathering system in Harrison County and will process liquids-rich gas flowing from both the north and south.
NGT&S will also construct a dry gas line originating from the tailgate of the processing plant that will also gather additional dry gas produced in the Utica trend. The system will ultimately deliver gas to multiple interconnects including Texas Eastern (Spectra), Rocky Mountain Express (Kinder Morgan) and Columbia Gas.
The project is expected to provide an initial transportation and processing capacity of 200 million cubic feet per day with significant expansion capabilities.
"This is an exciting project not only for NiSource but for Ohio," said Jimmy D. Staton, executive vice president and NGT&S group CEO. "We are making this investment to provide midstream solutions for producers located in the liquids-rich eastern Ohio Utica Shale area and in turn, this means jobs for Buckeyes."
"Situated in the heart of the liquids-rich Utica trend, this investment supports increased shale production in Ohio and represents NiSource's commitment to being the premier provider of midstream services to producers, including gathering, treating, conditioning, processing, compression and liquids handling in both the Marcellus and Utica shale regions," said Joseph A. Blount, president and chief operating officer of the NiSource Midstream and Minerals Group. "We are a full-service operator committed to safety and building environmentally-sound infrastructure in the communities where we operate."
