No Bull Sports launches on International Day of the Girl
Fresno-based Entrepreneur and CEO Kelly Vucovich launches an online non-profit community to empower young female athletes across the nation
FRESNO, Calif., Oct. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- No Bull Sports launches today October 11, 2016 at www.nobullsports.org. No Bull Sports is a start-up non-profit community dedicated to uniting, educating and empowering young female athletes from all walks of life. As an online sports community, they provide a safe environment where girls can build friendships in addition to receiving training tips, advice from leading athletes, mentorship opportunities and access to quarterly scholarships.
Kelly Vucovich, Fresno-based entrepreneur and CEO of No Bull Sports, was inspired by her family to create No Bull Sports, so much so that even the organization's name is a play on a family inside joke. "Since my last name was Noble and my father had 5 daughters, my mother would joke that he had 'No Bulls' and that's where we came up with the name. The inspiration to create No Bull Sports came from watching my nieces swim and realizing the challenges that many young female athletes face," said Vucovich.
Vucovich continues, "My father was a former professional athlete and played for the Detroit Pistons. Growing up he was very poor. My father would tell me stories of how he would do chores after school and on weekends to earn 5 cents to ride the bus downtown and play basketball at the YMCA."
Vucovich recognizes that for many, athletics symbolize a ticket out of their current situation, but with sports expenses constantly increasing, not everyone can afford to participate in extracurricular activities. Through quarterly scholarships, No Bull Sports strives to provide trailblazing young women with the financial resources they need to achieve their academic and athletic goals.
No Bull Sports offers its online community:
- Professional and collegiate-level athlete stories, advice and testimonials.
- Information on a variety of topics including health, sports and nutrition.
- A network of female athletes and mentors across the U.S.
- Relevant sports and leisure news.
No Bull Sports will award its inaugural scholarship of $5,000 in December 2016 to a high school student to help them reach their academic and athletic goals.
