NO-STING SKIN-PREP™ Spray for Periwounds Launched by Smith & Nephew
New formula protects skin from the effects of incontinence and friction, quick drying and lasts up to four days
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, NO-STING SKIN PREP™ Spray was launched in the U.S. market by the Advanced Wound Management Division of Smith & Nephew (LSE: SN; NYSE: SNN). NO-STING SKIN-PREP Spray is a liquid film-forming dressing that dries in less than 30 seconds for caregiver and patient convenience. The new spray leaves a clear waterproof, breathable and conformable barrier that allows for visual assessment of the periwound area. The new spray formula is alcohol free, reducing the potential for stinging when applied to vulnerable skin.
NO-STING SKIN-PREP Spray has up to a four day wear time, reducing the need for frequent applications. The pediatrician tested, hypo-allergenic and latex free formula is suitable for patients of any age whose skin is at risk. It also protects intact and damaged skin from irritation due to digestive secretions, exudate, adhesives, frictional forces, and skin trauma during tape and adhesive removal.
Heidi Hogue, RN, BScN, Director of the Wound Healing Institute of Southeast Arkansas said, "I've been using the NO-STING SKIN-PREP Spray, and the product has exceeded my expectations. I've seen the product perform well when used with Negative Pressure Wound Therapy. I also use it around the periwound areas of pressure, venous and diabetic foot ulcers. NO-STING SKIN PREP Spray is easy to use and it helps me help my patients by preventing and reducing irritation to the skin, and reducing the risk of skin trauma."
"Our new NO-STING SKIN-PREP Spray enhances patient comfort because it is conformable, protects the skin from incontinence and friction, and won't irritate damaged skin," said Tom Dugan, President of North American Wound Management. "For the caregiver, the fast drying spray offers quick and easy application and long lasting products save time and money. NO-STING SKIN PREP Spray can help protect vulnerable skin, reducing the risk of costly infections. The addition of NO-STING SKIN-PREP Spray to our liquid film-forming dressing line and our broad portfolio of trusted wound care brands reflects our commitment to providing solutions that promote positive patient outcomes and cost effective patient care."
NO-STING SKIN-PREP Spray will be featured at the upcoming Clinical Advances in Skin and Wound Care Conference, a national meeting for the interdisciplinary wound care community, taking place September 29 – October 2, 2010, in Orlando, Florida.
