Nurses are invited to nominate their colleagues online at Nurse.com/GEM in one of six categories: Excellence in Clinical Nursing, Excellence in Community Care, Excellence in Education and Mentorship, Excellence in Executive Leadership, Excellence in Management, and Excellence in Volunteerism.
Nominations also are being accepted for the Nurse.com Rising Star Award, which will be given to nurses who have been in practice for fewer than five years.
"The GEM Awards program supports and elevates the nursing profession by recognizing those who are the best of the best in nursing in every practice area and work setting across the U.S.," said Eileen Williamson, MSN, RN, who serves as Nurse.com's senior vice president and chief nurse executive. "Each year, Nurse.com calls upon our valued nurse readers to nominate exceptional nurses they work with – nurses they believe can be part of our GEM Awards program and who ultimately can become finalists and regional and national winners."
Five finalists from states in Nurse.com circulation regions will be chosen in each of the six categories by Nurse.com RN judges. GEM Awards dinners will take place in four cities during August and September.
In addition, five finalists will be selected in each category from states outside Nurse.com regions. All nominees will be judged by members of the Nurse.com advisory board to determine regional winners. Ultimately, one national winner in each category will be announced in November.
Nurse.com is the largest print and digital magazine dedicated to registered nurses, providing news, employment opportunities, and continuing education programming through the publication and its complementary digital products including blogs, e-books and social media outlets.
