Award Program Honors Physicians Who Help Patients through Medical Missions and Charity Work in the U.S. and Around the World
ALPHARETTA, Ga., Dec. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LocumTenens.com is now accepting nominations for its annual MedicalMissions.org Physician of the Year Award. This will be the fourth year the award program has honored physicians who donate their time to help underserved patients in the United States and abroad gain access to critically-needed healthcare services. The deadline for nominations is January 6, 2016. The program is open to doctors of medicine (M.D.) or doctors of osteopathic medicine (D.O.).
Nominations, including self nominations, can be submitted here. Two physician honorees will be selected, one for domestic charity work and one for international charity work. LocumTenens.com will donate $10,000 on behalf of each honoree to the medical mission organization of his or her choice. Last year, the company received more than 150 nominations for the award. Past winners are profiled on the LocumTenens.com website.
The company supports medical volunteerism by sponsoring charitable trips for its physician clients and associates to travel and serve on medical missions in developing countries like Honduras, where access to quality healthcare services is often limited. The company also underwrites and supports the MedicalMission.org website, which allows healthcare workers and not-for-profit organizations seeking medical volunteers to connect in order to aid underserved patients around the world.
