MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Nonin Medical, Inc., the inventor of finger pulse oximetry and a leader in noninvasive medical monitoring, today announced that its Nonin 3230 Bluetooth® Smart finger pulse oximeter was selected as one of 12 finalists for the 2014 Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards Program. The award is sponsored by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). The award recognizes products launched in 2013 that are innovative, easy-to-use, convenient, reliable and have a large market appeal. Nonin made the announcement at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. More than 200 entries were received by Bluetooth SIG, who will announce the winners in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The 3230 also features a new large screen with a graphic interface that guides the patient in proper use of the device using Nonin's exclusive CorrectCheck™ technology.
Another innovative feature is SmartPoint™ capture, an algorithm developed by Nonin that automatically determines when a high quality measurement is ready to be wirelessly transmitted. This helps to ensure that each reading transmitted by the Model 3230 is accurate.
