North Africa Trade & Investment Mission To The U.S. (April 6 -10, 2015)
WASHINGTON, April 2, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC), in partnership with the Arab Maghreb Union and the Union of Arab Maghreb Economic Chambers, will host thirty North African government officials and private sector executives for one week of networking meetings and public conferences from April 6 - 10 in Washington, DC and Houston, TX. The North Africa Trade & Investment Mission to the United States will provide insights into opportunities and challenges for U.S. companies looking to do business in the North Africa region (Maghreb). The trade mission will be led by H.E. Hassane Berkani, Vice President of the Union of Arab Maghreb Economic Chambers, and includes the Libyan Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry; the Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs & Cooperation; and the Moroccan Minister Delegate of Equipment, Transport and Logistics; along with numerous high-ranking government officials and business owners (click HERE for complete delegate listing).
In a recent trade mission to Algeria and Tunisia earlier this month, co-led by NUSACC, the US-Algeria Business Council and Hon. Charles Rivkin, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs, Secretary Rivkin noted, "Through our well-represented business delegation (of 18 American firms), the United States clearly demonstrated its commitment to being a major economic partner in the region."
In recent years, U.S. exports to the MENA countries have been doubling every four years. According to recent U.S. Government statistics, U.S. exports to the MENA region in 2014 surpassed $71 billion for the first time ever.
The North Africa delegation represents industry sectors in North Africa that are rapidly expanding markets for U.S. goods and services: electricity and power generation, food & agriculture, investments, logistics and transport, and tourism.
The two-city event will be divided into public conferences, company site visits, and private meetings with government officials in Washington, DC and Texas. The Washington, DC conference is on Tuesday, April 7 at the Washington Hilton from 9 am to 4 pm. The Houston, TX conference is on Thursday, April 9 at the JW Marriott from 9 am to 4 pm. The conferences include ministerial keynotes, panel discussions on business opportunities in the Arab Maghreb, business-to-business meetings, and networking opportunities.
