North American businesses continue to demonstrate high interest in mobile software applications for their employees (business-to-employee (B2E)). In 2014, % of respondents reported deploying at least mobile worker app. In 2015, this figure has risen slightly to % of respondents.
The largest proportion of businesses ( %) has implemented between and apps. The mobile enterprise applications market continues to be a growth market. Looking forward, % of respondents plan to deploy additional mobile worker apps during the 2015/2016 time period.
This study deep drills on mobile enterprise app categories that can be more expensive and require more complex design and deployment efforts. The MWM and MAT categories exhibit the strongest growth in terms of percentage of businesses deploying in 2014 compared to 2015.

Drivers and Barriers Behind Mobile B2E
North American businesses point to a long list of reasons for implementing mobile worker apps. Top adoption drivers continue to focus on anticipated improvements in employee productivity and business process efficiencies. A host of other benefits receive almost as high a priority from respondents. In today's economy, businesses are clearly feeling the pressure from their competition, either viewing mobile B2E apps as a means to keep up with competitors or, ideally, an innovative way to establish a competitive edge.
The probability of increased revenues and cost savings are strong purchase drivers, as are enhanced customer engagement and happier employees. Data security vulnerabilities remain customers' strongest concern, signaling a clear and continued need for vendors and channels to address proactively this fear with sales prospects.
Cost continues to be a top purchase barrier. A range of other issues are cited as reasons not to implement mobile B2E, with back-office integration receiving heightened (and deserved) attention, compared to 2014 responses. The response of No real business need is always a showstopper.
