WASHINGTON, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- North Star Group today announced it was awarded a contract by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the System Wide Information Management (SWIM) Systems Engineering and Business Support Services (SEBSS). The SWIM program is one of the key FAA NextGen transformational programs.

The SWIM SEBSS contract is valued at approximately $28 million for a six month base period with four option years.  North Star Group teamed with TASC, Inc. (TASC), and Dovel Technologies, Inc. for the contract.

Under the terms of the contract, the North Star Group Team will provide direct support to the SWIM Program Office and other key stakeholders, including Air Traffic Operations-Planning Systems Engineering at FAA Washington, D.C.  Headquarters and the William J. Hughes Technical Center located in Atlantic City, New Jersey, SWIM Implementing Programs, Communities of Interest (COI), and other FAA Lines of Business.

Additionally, under the terms of the contract the North Star Group Team will provide the SWIM Program Office with technical and business expertise, and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) technology and subject matter expertise to assist with the execution of the program.  North Star Group will also provide assistance in creating the formal documentation and guidance needed for effective program management.

This contract enables North Star Group to expand its portfolio of support services for the U.S. Federal government.  North Star Group currently provides program and acquisition management support to the FAA's NextGen transformational programs, Data Communications, SWIM and was recently awarded a separate FAA contract to study the potential of Airborne Access to SWIM technologies.
