MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- NTest Inc. announced today that Telesur, the leading telecommunciations service provider in Suriname, has purchased FiberWatch™, NTest's Remote Fiber Test System (RFTS), to monitor the quality of service of its fiber network infrastructure.
FiberWatch™ was selected by Telesur because it enables continuous automated fiber testing, which improves quality of service for broadband services. Network disruptions are an unpleasant occurrence caused by fiber cuts due to construction, accidents, vandalism and natural disasters. RFTS helps reduce time and costs associated with reactive maintenance and delivers automatic notification with all the information needed to completely isolate the exact fault location allowing Telesur to substantially reduce the time to repair a fiber cut, a metric known in the industry as Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
"The NTest fiber monitoring system enables us to proactively manage our network and provide the highest possible availability and reliability to our customers" said HenkBottse, Manager of Transmission for Telesur. "Network disruptions are impossible to predict but Telesur utilizes the latest technology to eliminate the impact these disruptions can have on our customers. The easy to use FiberWatch™ GUI identifies where a problem is in the fiber network using OTDR technology and the operations team is able to rapidly dispatch to the exact location. FiberWatch™ provides an immediate impact to the quality of service we provide our customers and reduction in our maintenance costs."
"To survive in today's competitive marketplace, each provider must operate an efficient, yet reliable network that provides leading edge services with minimal downtime," said Chris Dorny, VP of Business Development at NTest. "Deploying NTest's FiberWatch™ system allows Telesur to transform from a reactive to a proactive maintenance strategy, and we are pleased to be working with the company to bring this level of service quality to customers throughout Suriname."
The FiberWatch™ family of products is on display at the ECOC Conference in London at booth # TT6 from Sept 23-25. In addition, NTest will be presenting the fiber to the home monitoring solutions at the FTTH 2013 conference & EXPO in Tampa from Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at booth # TT3.
