Nucleus Report finds alfabet's approach improves insight, reduces liabilities and reduces costs

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., May 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- alfabet, the leading software provider for strategic IT planning and Business IT Management solutions, has been cited in a new report from Nucleus Research as providing solutions that improve companies' IT insight to reduce risk and overall costs. Nucleus' Research report, The Risk of Inaccurate Data on IT Applications, found that bad data quality on the existing IT landscape is one of the main reasons for low productivity, higher IT risk and operational cost. The report also identifies knowledge gaps within IT organizations and highlights new approaches that improve enterprise IT management to strengthen the larger organization.

The Nucleus Research Report indicates that the average company surveyed suffers from poor data quality and makes technology decisions based on data that is more than 14 months old and only 55 percent accurate. As a result, IT departments are using outdated that affect their enterprise IT landscape, including architecture, applications, integration technologies, business capabilities, and business processes. Reliance on such outdated and inaccurate information introduces the potential for significant harm to the business by creating compliance risk, draining productivity and adding unnecessary costs.

"Inaccurate data on the company's IT landscape can drive unnecessary costs, drain productivity, and increase the risk of noncompliance," said Rebecca Wettemann, VP of Research, Nucleus Research.  "Our analysis of global organizations in various stages of Enterprise Architecture maturity found that 42 percent of companies that were not using alfabet's planningIT had made unnecessary software or hardware purchases that could have been avoided if they had access to more accurate data about their applications."

New approaches to enterprise IT management can help companies gain insight into their enterprise IT portfolio. Nucleus Research finds that alfabet's approach, based on a distributed model, provides CIOs and other IT leaders with the tools to access accurate and up-to-date information to make informed decisions. This information empowers IT departments to align their operations to support the larger business objectives.

"The Nucleus Research report confirms what our customers have been benefiting from for years: an accurate insight in their rapid changing and increasing complex IT landscape." said Rene Hermes, VP Marketing of alfabet. "This supports them to better address the challenges they are facing and to plan a course of action to support the entire enterprise."
