NXP and sMedio Partner to Deliver NFC Enabled Data Transfer and Media Streaming between Windows 8 PCs and Android Mobile Devices
Collaboration also includes reciprocal development / sales support targeting global OEMs.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. and TOKYO, Oct. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- sMedio, a leading developer and provider of wireless content mobility solutions, today announced that it is partnering with NXP to optimize its WiFi data transfer, sync and media streaming software in support of NXP's NFC drivers and chips. The partnership will result in the delivery of NFC-WiFi coupled content mobility solutions between enabled Windows 8 PCs and Android and other OS supported mobile devices.
"We are excited to partner with NXP, the global leader in NFC, to deliver a truly unique and compelling implementation of our content mobility software optimized for NFC," said George Tang, vice president with sMedio. "Our NFC enabled content mobility solutions with NXP are extremely relevant, fully interoperable PC-Mobile offerings, which solve an immediate need and desire of users for wireless data access, mobility and streaming between devices."
Tang continued, "Tap to transfer, tap to sync, and tap to stream provides an immediately gratifying user experience. And, in parallel, it creates a consistent, frequent and strategic usage pattern of NFC, and a more compelling foundation for increased NFC mobile commerce sampling, than a solo mobile commerce solution."
"As the worldwide leader for Identification solutions, NXP looks forward to working with sMedio to bring optimized NFC solutions to OEMs globally," said Jeff Miles, vice president mobile transactions with NXP Semiconductors. "sMedio's software optimized for our NFC solutions is an excellent pairing of NFC enabled technology for PC and tablet manufacturers. This solution extends and compliments core operating system functionality for NFC and adds significant value to both Window 8 PCs and Android devices," Miles concluded.
As part of this partnership, both companies will provide reciprocal development and sales support of NFC optimized solutions for PC and tablet manufacturers globally. The first solutions based on the sMedio and NXP partnership will be available for the launch of Windows 8 (expected end of October 2012).
