NYU's New, Innovative, Intensive One-Year Global MPH Degree Will Train Students on Three Continents

NEW YORK, Dec. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NYU's College of Global Public Health (NYU CGPH) announced today its plans for a full-time, three-term degree program, taking students to three global sites for a unique one-year Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. 

Beginning in June 2016, the program's first group of students will start the one-year program in New York City, spend the second term in Accra, Ghana, and then conclude the program in the United Arab Emirates at NYU Abu Dhabi. 

Future programs may take place on other NYU global network campuses, including Buenos Aires, Florence, London, Madrid, Shanghai, Sydney and Washington, DC.

The CGPH Cross-Continental MPH will train cohorts of highly-motivated recent undergraduates, arming them with the skills required to embrace the enormous challenges that lie ahead in global public health through a practice-based, skills-focused curriculum.  The intensive one-year program will then be followed by practice-based, internship where students will integrate public health theory and models.

Initial program tracks include Epidemiology and Global Health. The applied global approach will include epidemiologic principles, public health surveillance methods, field investigations, as well as survey and sample development. The Global Health track will focus on public health systems, including methodologies to utilize large and country-level data sets to compare health and economic systems.  NYU CGPH plans to expand degree offerings in the future.
