Oakland County Friends Launch 'Permit Pal'
Handy, easy-to-use device eliminates 'vehicle hangtag frustration'
FRANKLIN, Mich., Feb. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Suzanne Lucas Binder – an accomplished Oakland County interior designer - was going through her late husband Robert S. Binder's papers when she came across plans for a product that makes life easier for anyone who struggles to hang parking tags, handicapped permits or other official cards from their rear view mirror.
"When I saw the plans I thought, 'This is a great idea. People could really use this – including me.'"
Suzanne and Michele Harris – her friend and expert marketer - started The Hold It Company (THIC) to patent, produce and market the Permit Pal. The Permit Pal lets motorists quickly and easily attach/detach hangtags and/or permit cards directly to the windshield with easy-to-use Velcro strips. Permit Pal also ensures proper and legal positioning for all of your permits, regardless of size or function. The Permit Pal - when used properly - guarantees compliance with state and local laws by leaving your permits in the right hanging position.
"Bobby originally envisioned the Permit Pal as an aid for handicapped or older drivers who had trouble placing their hangtag or permit card on the rear view mirror," Suzanne said. "As we developed the product, we realized it can help just about anyone. Who doesn't have to display a permit, tag or card in their car these days for their office, university, apartment complex, sports venue or school?"
Bobby conceived the device – originally called the Handicap Helper - after a medical problem created limited dexterity in his right arm. He found it difficult to attach and detach his state handicap permit card.
"That's just how he was," says Suzanne. "When he encountered a problem, he set about finding a way to fix it."
Suzanne developed a prototype based on Bobby's notes, sketches and drafts.
"I did this out of my determination and love for him. I wanted to celebrate him and who he was as a person. It's wonderful that so many people will benefit from this product."
To date, the Permit Pal – which is made in the U.S.A. – has been sold to the medical supply, pharmaceutical, and automotive industries. Suzanne is currently negotiating with retail outlets to carry the Permit Pal so consumers can buy it directly. For more information, please visit ThePermitPal.com.
