Ober|Kaler Announces the Eighth Annual Women in Construction Conference Full day event takes place October 24, 2013
WASHINGTON, Sept. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The law firm of Ober|Kaler is pleased to announce the eighth annual Women in Construction Conference (www.WomenInConstructionConference.com), to be held on October 24, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency, Bethesda, Maryland.
Harvey Rubin, MD, PhD, Director of the University of Pennsylvania's Institute for Strategic Threat Analysis and Response (ISTAR), joins the conference as keynote speaker this year. Dr. Rubin has advised both DOD and MI6 of the intersection between terrorism and infrastructure in the aftermath of 9/11.
Co-founded by Ober|Kaler's Barbara Werther, a construction litigation attorney for over 30 years, and Barbara Wagner, Executive VP at Clark Construction, the mission of the Women in Construction Conference is to provide an avenue for younger women to learn from those who are "more seasoned" and to offer networking and mentoring opportunities to all attendees. Every year 150-200 women and men attend the full-day event, from law firms, consulting companies, construction companies, trade associations, non-profits, engineering firms and architecture firms across the US and Canada.
"We have a great diversity in our conference, particularly in age and background," said Barbara Werther. "In addition to our more senior attendees, last year we had a record number of young professional women in attendance who are just starting out in their careers. They provided terrific feedback and we considered their input carefully as we put together this year's program."
The 2013 conference will feature panels and breakout sessions on a variety of topics, including:
- Women Pioneers in Construction
- "I am Just a Bill" Navigating Capitol Hill
- Developing Your Professional Brand
- Project Compliance: Understanding Your Role
- It's Who You Know: Effective Speed Networking
- Preparing for Crisis: Plan Now to Prevent Losses Later
Cost of registration is $100 per person and includes breakfast, lunch and the post-conference networking cocktail reception.
