The Amazing Kitchen Rock peels, crushes, cracks and tenderizes
SAN DIEGO, Feb. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- "It crushes, it cracks, it peels, it pounds, it splits, it smashes, and it tenderizes!" proclaims Sam the Rock Man, spokesman for the Amazing Kitchen Rock in his video. "We've always had kitchen rocks in our family's kitchens. I never thought much about it until several friends mentioned that they had never seen a rock used as a kitchen utensil," said Rey Alvarez, in charge of quality control for the company. Alvarez is one of three people who personally sort and select each rock from one-ton pallets that are emptied every day. "You know, before we launched amazingkitchenrock.com, you couldn't just go out and buy one of these, because they're only sold by the ton. We still have to go through the pile one by one, tossing out the rejects, until we find the perfect stones. They need to have the right shape and surface texture. They have to 'feel right' in the palm of your hand," said Alvarez. "We still sell them by the ton, except that it's one or two at a time!" he said with a laugh.
The website video shows foods such as whole nuts, ice cubes, and an entire head of garlic being smashed with the rock, to the delight of incredulous viewers. Sam also uses his kitchen rock to crack shellfish and tenderize an inexpensive cut of meat. The $6.95 purchase price of an Amazing Kitchen Rock includes a free digital cookbook with original, mouth-watering recipes not found anywhere else. Both are available at http://www.amazingkitchenrock.com
"These days, buying a whole chicken and cutting it up yourself makes a lot of sense, since it's about half the price of cut-up chicken, and about one-third the price of chicken breasts," said Sam. "With a good knife and the Amazing Kitchen Rock, cutting up a whole chicken is really easy, and safe, even for people who have never done it. I even use my kitchen rocks to sharpen my knives!" Using a kitchen rock has also proven to be a lifesaver for those with arthritis or conditions of the hand or wrist that make gripping a knife difficult.
"I know it's a cheap and cheesy infomercial, but I really believe in the product because it really works," said Sam. "it will be a good day when every kitchen in the country has an Amazing Kitchen Rock. Or maybe even two."
