CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The 45-city nationwide Teen Choice Live! The Tour will bring together Olympic gold medalists Gabrielle Douglas, Aly Raisman and Jordyn Wieber with special musical guest and rising pop stars Megan & Liz.
Teen Choice Live! The Tour will deliver all the energy and excitement of the TEEN CHOICE awards, which have aired on FOX for the past 14 years. Each year, the TEEN CHOICE awards celebrate the hottest icons in television, music, film, sports, fashion, comedy and the web. Teen Choice Live! offers fans all the flavors of the TEEN CHOICE awards with the added bonus of Gabrielle, Aly and Jordyn performing awe-inspiring routines with an all-star dance and cheer cast. Special guest appearances by TEEN CHOICE winners, pop music stars and celebrities across all spectrums will make each Teen Choice Live! stop a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Tickets go on sale in select markets starting Saturday, Dec. 8.
The star-studded tour kicks off Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 in Richmond, Va., and continues through early March, stopping in more than 45 cities including Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Houston, Miami and New York.
"I'm so excited to go on a tour with Aly, Jordyn, Megan and Liz and bring our fans so many of our favorite things in one glam-filled event. I love the TEEN CHOICE awards and always get excited to see who gets the surfboard!" said Gabrielle Douglas, about appearing on the tour.
The three Olympic superstars all played a vital role in American women's dominance at the 2012 London Olympics and won hearts across America when they brought home the U.S. Gymnastics Gold for the first time in 16 years. Their triumphant return after wowing the world in London has meant a whirlwind of appearances celebrating America's newest teen celebrities.
"The support from our fans since we returned home has been incredible," said Aly Raisman. "This tour will be a fun 'thank you' to everyone that has shown that support and helped us accomplish our goals." Jordyn Wieber added, "We know it's going to be an amazing show and hope the fans leave inspired to follow their dream, just like we followed ours."
Gabrielle Douglas is the first American to win the gold in both the individual all-around and team events at the same Olympics. Aly Raisman captained the women's team to the gold medal in the team event, and added a bronze on the balance beam before ending her Games with the United States' first-ever gold medal on the floor exercise. After entering the year as the defending U.S. and World All-Around Champion, Jordyn Wieber's strong performance in the Team Finals was crucial in bringing home U.S. Gymnastics Gold.
With Teen Choice Live!, the producers of the TEEN CHOICE awards are continuing in their long tradition of celebrating the hottest teen icons. "We will transport our audience for the evening to an awards show-like setting while we spotlight major star wattage," said co-executive producer Mike Burg. "Our superstar ensemble of Gabrielle, Aly, Jordyn, Megan and Liz embody hard work, creativity, individualism and fun – all the things that the TEEN CHOICE brand embodies," added co-executive producer Bob Bain.
Joining the cast are rising pop music sensations, Megan & Liz (www.meganandliz.com). Their infectious songs have resonated with an entire generation of fans and earned them a spot on Billboard's "21 Under 21: Music's Hottest Minors 2012" list as well as rave reviews in the New York Times, USA Today and on MTV. The talented duo were also featured in the 86th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and performed at this year's massive iHeartRadio Music Festival alongside the biggest names in music. Megan & Liz have amassed over 215 million video views and over 1 million subscribers on YouTube and continue to win fans across the country. They just released their EP "Bad for Me" which features brand new music written by the duo. The tour lineup also includes up-and-coming 21-year-old pop singer Bean.
Kids' Health Goes Gold, a new national initiative promoting children's health and wellness, will be an official cause of the tour. Kids' Health Goes Gold events, held prior to each performance, will feature a brief presentation focused on getting to know the tour's stars, along with local health care professionals, who will share key tips to help children understand the little things they can do in their daily lives to make a big difference in living a healthier lifestyle.
