NEW YORK, Nov. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Atom Tickets, the first-of-its-kind social movie ticketing app, will host a special pop-up movie theater, which will make its debut at New York's JFK Airport Terminal 4 on Wednesday, November 22. On the heels of the official kick off of the holiday travel season, Atom Tickets is teaming up with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to surprise travelers on the busiest, most stressful travel day of the year in an effort to spread some holiday cheer. Atom Tickets' first-ever pop-up theater, with its vintage design, will provide travelers with a relaxing movie theater-like experience complete with 40 plush theater seats, bean bag chairs and a high-definition 16x9 foot screen. The pop–up theater will screen the 70th anniversary edition of MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET, the 25th anniversary edition of HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK and the original HOME ALONE and will include future screenings in other New York locations in December.
"Enjoying great movies is as much a part of the holidays as shopping for gifts," said Matthew Bakal, executive chairman and co-founder of Atom Tickets. "At Atom, we are focused on making the movie-going experience easier. In designing this event, we made an easy and fun movie-going experience come to life for people who need it the most -- holiday travelers."
The Atom Tickets pop-up movie theater will also feature ushers in period movie theater attire and welcome guests with traditional movie concessions, including free popcorn and movie candy. In between showtimes, Atom Tickets will feature exclusive short-form content and family-friendly trivia games, with prizes and giveaways like free movie tickets, Atom Tickets gift cards, Blu-rays, DVDs and more. Visitors are encouraged to use #AtomPopUpTheater on their social media to share the experience.
Atom Tickets re-imagines the most convenient way for users to plan a night out at the movies. The free app and website provide relevant reviews, trailers and synopses to help customers make the best decision on what to see. Moviegoers may then invite friends (via Facebook or their contact lists) to purchase their own tickets to join them. Atom offers streamlined ordering of tickets and concessions from any Android or iOS phone. At the theater, users go directly to the ushers and concession counters, where they simply scan a QR code at tablet kiosks. Paper tickets and IOUs have been replaced by Atom's innovative platform, which keeps all plans, messaging, payment and tickets in one place.
HOME ALONE, HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK and MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET are available now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital through the Movies Anywhere app at moviesanywhere.com.
