One-Day Free Clinic Will Give 30 day and 90 day Free Prescriptions
Local Pharmacy and Mail-In Pharmacy Offer Their Service to August 9th Madison Free Clinic
MADISON, Wis., Aug. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Madison local pharmacy, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and mail-in pharmacy, RX Outreach have both offered their services and will be providing free prescriptions to patients attending the one-day free health clinic in Madison, on August 9th, sponsored by the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics.
The clinic will be held at Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center, 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, on Saturday, August 9th, in Madison. Patient appointments will be available between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Patients are encouraged to call 1-800-340-1301 today to schedule an appointment. This clinic is open to all Wisconsin residents who have not seen a doctor recently or can't afford their medications because the cost is too high, who have unaffordable premiums, who are uninsured and those who have questions about health insurance coverage options.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a fully licensed pharmacy operating on a stand-alone basis that provides prescribed medications at no charge to low-income individuals who qualify for the pharmacy's services.
"For low-income uninsured persons in Dane County, the St. Vincent de Paul Charitable Pharmacy provides – free of charge – the prescribed medications required to treat their chronic and acute medical conditions," said Ralph Middlecamp, executive director of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul District Council of Madison.
"The staff members and volunteers at our fully licensed pharmacy are pleased to partner with NAFC and local providers in conducting the Madison C.A.R.E. Clinic to identify our community's medically underserved population and help meet some of their health needs," Middlecamp said. "Our charitable pharmacy on Fish Hatchery Road will be open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday to supply eligible persons with medications prescribed for them at the C.A.R.E. Clinic. We offer our services year-round, and we're hoping Saturday's event can help us connect with people whose health can be improved through assistance we supply on an ongoing basis."
RX Outreach is a fully-licensed mail order pharmacy that is committed to making the use of prescription drugs safer and more affordable. The program offers prescription medicines at low cost to uninsured and underinsured individuals and families, as well as those who have limited prescription drug coverage.
"Rx Outreach realizes the important work of the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics and how the C.A.R.E. (Communities Are Responding Everyday) Clinics improve the health of each community they enter, "said Michael Holmes, President RX Outreach. "That is why we partner with them by providing free medication to patients at each of their events across the country."
The clinic will offer basic preventive primary medical care (including medical exams, diabetes tests, cholesterol tests, EKGs, pregnancy tests and more), 3 free months of medication, health education, on-site insurance navigators and connection to follow up care and the state's safety net community resources.
"We are very pleased and appreciative that the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and RX Outreach are offering their services and providing support to the underinsured and uninsured," said NAFC Executive Director Nicole Lamoureux. "Their help and generosity will ensure that our patients will receive the health care and medication they need."
Both medical and non-medical volunteers are needed and are encouraged to register now to work at the clinic. Additional information on the clinic, as well on registering to volunteer, is available at: www.nafcclinics.org.
