Walks benefit people living with seizures
SEATTLE, May 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- One thousand or more people will march in eight cities throughout the northwest on Saturday, June 18 for the 9th Annual Northwest Run/Walk for Epilepsy. The events will occur in Seattle, Spokane, Portland, Tacoma, Tri-Cities, Hermiston, Anchorage and Juneau. All events benefit the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest.
"Everyone is invited to participate in the Run/Walk events to support people living with epilepsy in their community," said Brent Herrmann, CEO. "We are thrilled we have two new Run/Walks this year in Tacoma and Hermiston helping to bring awareness and funds to people in need."
Proceeds from the multi-city walks support uncompensated programs and services including Camp Discovery for children with epilepsy and their siblings, year-round educational and support groups, self-advocacy and mentoring programs, emergency medication assistance, and seizure response training programs for school nurses and personnel, first responders and employers.
The Northwest Run/Walk for Epilepsy in Anchorage is hosted by the Stone Soup Group, in Tri-Cities by the Arc of Tri-Cities, and in Hermiston by the Arc of Umatilla County.
