NEW YORK and LONDON, April 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Javelin Capital Markets, an interest rate swap and credit derivatives trading venue today announced that it has opened an office in London. Located within the City, Javelin's EMEA operation will be led by Dan Moon, formerly of HSBC London and Bank of America.
"We are pleased to have someone with Dan's experience leading our efforts in Europe," said James Cawley, Javelin's CEO based in New York. Javelin has seen a spike in demand from end users in the U.S. and Europe ahead of final mandatory trading regulations in the United States.
"Based on solid demand from European customers, it made sense to accelerate our European deployment," explained Dan Moon.
Javelin will launch its anonymous "all to all" swaps trading venue in the coming weeks. Javelin expects to register as a Swaps Execution Facility or "SEF" as defined under the Dodd Frank Act in the U.S. Final trading rules that require swaps trading on SEFs are expected to be finalized in the coming weeks and to be effective by late summer.
"A number of institutions in Europe have realized that the swaps markets are evolving and will offer customers more choice," said Moon. "Javelin's innovative platform has been well received due to its dedicated liquidity, market transparency and certainty of clearing."
Moon has over 15 fifteen years in derivatives sales focusing on Banks, Building Societies, Asset Managers and Hedge Funds in London. Previously Moon worked at HSBC, Bank of America, and Santander.
