Over 40 Million Pounds of Clothing and Household Items are Diverted From Landfills Each Year Through Arc Thrift Stores
Celebrate Earth Day and Donate Today
DENVER, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The eco-impact that Coloradoans create through Arc Thrift Stores is staggering. Through the Arc Thrift Stores 40 million pounds, or 36,125,000 pieces of unwanted clothing and household items were donated and diverted from the landfill over the past twelve months. According to Scott Blomquist, Director of Recycling Operations, "This equates to approximately 6,000,000 cubic feet of landfill space. For every 75 items donated to Arc, almost 6 pounds of Carbon Monoxide (CO2) is eliminated from the air we all breathe."
Carrying everything from women's, men's and children's clothing to household items, Arc Thrift Stores has experienced a major increase in customer transactions. Last year the 19-store chain had more than 276,000 new customer transactions. To meet the growing customer demand, Arc is in need of unwanted clothing and household items. "By donating to Arc you'll help reduce landfill emissions and know your carbon footprint just got a little greener," stated Lloyd Lewis, President and CEO.
