Over One Million Job Applicants Use Social Media Profiles to Apply for Jobs

MATAWAN, N.J., Dec. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- iCIMS, Inc., a leading provider of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) talent acquisition solutions, today released its quarterly U.S. Hiring Trends 2015 report which compares the amount of new jobs to the number of job applicants across industry, geography and company size.

In partnership with Hanover Research, a third-party data analyst firm, iCIMS analyzed its customer base data of approximately 4,500 organizations. This 25-page report produced by iCIMS provides actionable insights for employers and job seekers and offers important trends and biggest challenges within talent acquisition.

Key findings in the report include:

Social media profiles

• During the last quarter alone, more than one million people used their social media profiles to apply for jobs. {Click to Tweet this}
• The computer services industry stood out with the highest percentage of applications submitted via social networks.
• The hospital and securities industries experienced the lowest percentage of applications submitted using social media profile data.

Talent supply

• The gaming industry received the most applicants per open position in Q3.
• The leisure, telecommunications, food and beverage, and energy industries also had more applicants than needed to fill open positions.

Talent demand

• Transportation and distribution employees remain in high demand, consistent with previous quarters in 2015.
• The northeast region of the United States had the most competition for job openings in the education industry while the telecommunications industry had the most competitive field for opens positions in the West.
