The hike lasted from Jan. 23 through Feb. 4, 2010

SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Erica Davis has become the first female paraplegic to climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. A nine-person climb team that included the 26-year-old Davis, sponsored by Overstock.com (Nasdaq: OSTK), completed its 7-day climb on Feb 1st. The team was part of the C.H.E.K. Davis completed the climb in a wheelchair specially designed for the assent. In 2005, Davis had a microscopic bleed in her spinal cord called a Cavernous Hemangioma. The condition left her paralyzed from the chest down. Since her paralysis, she has competed in seven triathlons, 10 cycling races and a few half and full marathons.

Tara Butcher, a 27-year-old was also part of the climb team. Due to a catastrophic car accident in 2005, Butcher sustained life threatening injuries and suffered an amputation of her left leg below the knee. All of the climb team members were cleared by a final selection process conducted by the C.H.E.K. Institute and each underwent vigorous training to prepare for the record-setting event.
