PA Cyber Charter School Schedules 50 Enrollment Seminars Across State
MIDLAND, Pa., April 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, celebrating its 10th anniversary year, has scheduled 50 enrollment seminars across the state during the months of May, June, July and August.
"Parents and their children need to be fully informed when considering enrollment in a cyber charter school," said Dr. Nick Trombetta, CEO. "We invite them to attend an enrollment seminar as soon as possible to become informed, have all their questions answered, and make a decision that is right for their family."
Families may visit the school's website, www.pacyber.org, or call 1.888.PACYBER (722.9237) for the dates and locations of enrollment seminars in their region, he said. Site locations and dates are subject to change. Pre-registration is required and appointments at each site are limited.
"Parents must make a reservation so our admissions counselors can give each of them the time and attention they deserve," said Dr. Trombetta. "We do not accept enrollments over the telephone or Internet. It's important that students and parents sit down with us so both the school and the family know what the expectations are for academic success."
Students who wait until late summer to enroll may find some classes closed, especially the popular Virtual Classroom courses, which are taught in real time. Many of the school's advanced world language, mathematics and science classes are offered only as Virtual Classroom courses, said Dr. Trombetta.
- Students may choose from among the best available online curricula, including Little Lincoln, Lincoln Interactive and Calvert Learning. An extensive course catalog includes such courses as Mandarin Chinese language, interactive game design and forensic pathology.
- Students learn in the safety and comfort of their own homes, with high-speed internet access, a laptop computer, all-in-one printer, digital tablet, and all textbooks and instructional materials all supplied by the school.
- Technical Support staff members quickly resolve issues with computers, software and other technology.
- Choice of Virtual Classroom or Self-Paced Courses –Virtual Classroom (synchronous) courses are taught in real time, with teachers and students interacting through audio headsets, keyboard and digital tablets. Class sessions are recorded and may be reviewed at any time. Students taking self-paced (asynchronous) courses can complete lessons and exams at any time of day or night, work ahead or catch up, communicating with teachers by email and through computer learning software.
- Student Achievement staff employs Scantron and other testing methods to pinpoint academic deficiencies. Academy of Reading and Academy of Math, along with individual tutoring and other interventions, are used to bring students up to grade level.
- Field trips to educational sites and events, and Family Link outings (snow tubing, rafting, etc.) are among programs for cyber families and students to meet and interact.
- Parents experience the satisfaction of taking part in their children's education under the guidance of an Instructional Supervisor who is a state-certified teacher.
