ROCKAWAY, N.J., Aug. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- While economic conditions continue to leave most businesses reluctant to hire new employees, Party City deviates from the national unemployment trend and prepares for an intense hiring wave. In anticipation for the Halloween season, a nearly $7 billion industry and the second largest retail holiday according to the National Retail Federation, Party City is heavily recruiting employees in communities across the country. As North America's leading Halloween retailer, Party City operates more than 750 stores, and will hire an additional 20,000 employees nationwide.
"Party City recognizes the importance of job creation in this tough economy and makes it an initiative to spur job growth within our local communities whenever possible," said Gregg Melnick, President of Party City. "The Halloween season allows us that privilege each year as it's our busiest time of the year. The additional staff is needed to ensure Party City customers receive the best possible service while shopping."
The retailer is hiring Halloween associates to undertake a variety of positions, including management positions. Depending on specific store staffing needs, many opportunities exist for store employees to continue working after Halloween. Employees undergo a specialized training program to gain Halloween costume product knowledge, as more than 40 percent of Halloween shoppers dress in costumes according to the National Retail Federation.
