WeChat beacons are the only beacon that can simultaneously broadcast two iBeacon signals alongside an Eddystone signal. Allowing businesses to broadcast simultaneously to both WeChat users, iPhone users, as well as supporting contextual Eddystone attachments, Physical Web URLs and telemetry data.

WeChat beacons come pre programmed with the WeChat UUID and test Major and Minor values. Official WeChat account owners who have activated their account for WeChat Shake can configure the beacon to broadcast their allocated Major and Minor values via the GemTot SDK app.

WeChat beacons allow businesses to place themselves in WeChat's beacon discovery network and reach the 650 million WeChat users across the globe. With WeChat beacons, a business can provide a contextual experience or content to their users that is relevant to the user's physical location. For example, by using the "Shake" discovery feature, the user can see a new offer and can download a coupon or further details. This allows businesses to provide an experience similar to iBeacon, while also eliminating the need for them to build their own app.
