Path 1 Video Gateways Deployed for Transatlantic Video Broadcasts from Romania
ASI-IP Gateways deliver MPEG-2 broadcast video over the public Internet
SAN DIEGO, Nov. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Path 1, a division of IP Video Networks, Inc., a leader in video over IP transmission, established a highly reliable IP video transmission link, using the public Internet, to carry four standard definition MPEG-2 streams from Romania to a Tier 1 distributor in Los Angeles, California.
Path 1's Vx8000 gateway sets the standard for delivery of perfect video over the most difficult IP links. Unpredictable network congestion, jitter, and fluctuating packet loss are several of the issues which present challenges for reliable IP video broadcasts. Communication standards, such as SMPTE 2022, were established to make IP video transmission possible; however, the challenges that arise with the public Internet often require more robust methods. Path 1's Clear Path Pro Forward Error Correction was designed with public Internet transmission in mind. Clear Path Pro extends the standards established in SMPTE 2022 to provide additional packet protection, and improved QoS, for broadcast video to traverse unmanaged public networks.
"The ability to move our video transmission from a dedicated DS3 line to the public Internet has greatly impacted our business with a significant increase in our profitability," said Dima Samata, CEO at Global Connect Network, Inc. "The Vx8000 makes public Internet transmission a reality and has caused us to completely rethink our approach for future international transmissions."
"There is a growing market for international content, and transmission technology is no longer cost prohibitive," said Andrew Caples, Vice President of Sales. "Path 1 is the only IP gateway provider capable of leveraging the public Internet to offer content providers a cost effective alternative for video transmission".
