CHENNAI, July 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Ranked "4th in the IT Industry" by the Great Place to Work Institute
PayPal's India Development Center (IDC) has been ranked among the top 25 best companies to work for in India for the 4th year in a row, by the Great Place to Work Institute (GPTW). This year, PayPal has been ranked "4th in the IT industry". In the overall survey that included 21 industry segments, PayPal was ranked number 17.
Concurrently, the India Development Center has also won two awards in different categories at the Zinnov Awards & Recognition Program 2012: all within a week's span.
"At PayPal, we believe that creativity and innovation come from enjoying work. Each year we bring new dimensions at our work place hoping to make an environment in which one can contribute and have fun too. We believe in hiring smart people and empowering them to deliver in an eco-system where innovation is in the air. You can't help but be happy in a place like this," says Mr. Anupam Pahuja, General Manager, PayPal IDC.
At the Zinnov Awards and Recognition Program 2012, Anupam Pahuja, General Manager, PayPal IDC, was recognized in the category: Leader in "High Impact Global Roles" and PayPal IDC was recognized in the category 'Most Successful Attrition Management'.
Anupam leads the global talent strategy at PayPal, a global transformation program that impacts over 3000 people supporting the growth and scalability of PayPal's technology organization over the next 3-5 years.
He has been instrumental in establishing a new location based strategy for developing new "Centers of Excellence", moving global domains to align with the business and talent in the right locations thus enabling technologists to deliver in an agile business model.
The "'High Impact Global Role" recognition only reiterates the successful leadership and visionary model that he sets for PayPal in India.
The Most Successful Attrition Management award is an industry-wide award to recognize those MNC R&D centers that have successfully managed attrition within their organizations, despite the industry average of 17% in the last year. The assessment criteria apart from the attrition numbers was to look at the measures taken by organizations to understand their employee's needs and steps taken to proactively retain them.
Instead of working on a separate attrition management program, PayPal adopted a differentiated approach of increasing employee delight. "At the very core is our strong faith in people and the basis of our business has been trust, where employees are truly partners, and learning and expanding our capabilities and contributions is considered business as usual," says Ms. Jayanthi Vaidyanathan, Director, Human Resources, PayPal IDC.
As part of the eBay (Nasdaq:EBAY) group of companies, PayPal's base in India comprises a global development center in Chennai with over 2200 staff supporting both the eBay Marketplaces and PayPal businesses globally. Located at Sholinaganallur on the IT Highway, the center is one of PayPal's largest technology sites in the world and is involved in all of the company's major technology and product development initiatives to improve its global payment platform for nearly 100 million active users worldwide.
The global development center consists of development and quality engineers, product managers, user-experience professionals, web developers, and project managers as well as site operations, data management, and risk analytics staff.
