Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Announces 13th Annual Pittsburgh Wine Festival as Part of Pennsylvania Wine Week
PITTSBURGH, Pa., May 1, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) is pleased to announce the 2015 Wine Week celebrations will continue with the Pittsburgh Wine Festival at Heinz Field on Thursday, May 7. The event will feature more than 500 wines and 100 vintners.
"The PLCB is proud to be a part of the long tradition of the Pittsburgh Wine Festival," said PLCB Chairman Tim Holden. "Winemakers from all over the world are here to explain and educate guests about the complexities of their product. We encourage everyone to plan out the wines they want to taste before the event to truly enjoy all the festival has to offer."
The Pittsburgh Wine Festival marks its 13th year honoring the art of the grape, with vintners, winemakers and industry experts on hand to help guide and inform guests on each wine being sampled. The VIP Lounge Tasting is from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and the Grand Tasting follows from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. To purchase tickets or view the list of wines that will be available for tasting, visit www.pittsburghwinefestival.com/. Proceeds from the event benefit UPMC.
The VIP Tasting features special and reserve wines that are not available during the Grand Tasting event. Guests of the VIP Tasting will have the opportunity to have a more intimate experience with the winemakers and winery representatives.
For the convenience of festival guests, the PLCB will operate an onsite Fine Wine & Good Spirits Store carrying the featured wine from each table at the event. For more information on products tasted at the wine festivals, visit www.FineWineAndGoodSpirits.com.
"We encourage everyone to enjoy all the events have to offer, but please consume responsibly and designate a driver. A fun night should also be a safe night," added Chairman Holden.
Wine Week also includes festivals in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field on Wednesday, May 6, and in Harrisburg at the State Museum of Pennsylvania on Friday, May 8.
The PLCB regulates the distribution of beverage alcohol and also operates more than 600 Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores statewide. Taxes and store profits are returned to Pennsylvania's General Fund. For more information about the Liquor Control Board, visit www.lcb.state.pa.us.
