Penny, The Lost Dog, Receives Gift From Invisible Fence® Brand
State-of-the-art systems will help keep dog safe and secure at her Washington farm
ROYAL CITY, Wash., March 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, March 14, Invisible Fence® Brand will donate two Invisible Fencing® solutions to "Penny," a 9-month-old Vizsla, and her owners Kendra and Colt Brown of Royal City, Wash. The systems will help keep Penny safe and close to home. The pup received national attention late last year when she wandered from the Brown's property in Washington and found herself 2,400 miles across the country in Pennsylvania a few weeks later. She was reunited with her owners in January.
A Long Journey
On Dec. 19, 2014, Penny slipped away from her owners by accident and was soon picked up by a truck driver who traveled 2,400 miles with her to Pittsburgh. Not knowing who the owners were, the driver dropped Penny off at a local animal clinic, and staff there discovered the dog's owners through an identity microchip under her skin. After being given the happy news that Penny had been found, the Browns were reunited with their beloved pet in January after she was flown home by Alaska Airlines free of charge.
Team members at Invisible Fence® Brand's corporate office in Knoxville, Tenn., read about Penny's adventure and contacted the couple to offer pet fencing solutions to keep her safe. On Saturday, March 14, representatives from Invisible Fence® Brand of Seattle will complete installation on two, state-of-the-art systems at the Brown's 7,000-acre farm in Royal City. Valued at more than $5,000, the donation includes a GPS 2.0 Ultimate Wire Free Pet Fence™, and a Boundary Plus® Fencing Solution. The GPS 2.0 Wire Free Pet Fence, considered one of the most advanced pet fence systems on the market, uses 32 navigational GPS satellites and is ideal for farms and other large areas as well as varied terrains. The Brown's farm will be one of the largest pet fence solutions installed in the United States to date. Delivering up to 30 percent more yard space, letting pets play safely right up to the property's edge, Boundary Plus® Technology will be installed around the home, giving Penny plenty of room to roam about while ensuring she stays close. Included with this gift will be the brand's exclusive Perfect Start™ Plus Training. Developed in cooperation with leading animal behaviorists, the training uses the only scientifically sound, behaviorally based training protocol available, and will safely and effectively introduce Penny to her new fencing solutions.
At the event, Invisible Fence® Brand will also donate $1,500 in Penny's name to the Homeward Pet Adoption Center in Woodinville, Wash. The money will be used to fund the center's free microchipping program for families and pets in need. Learn more at homewardpet.org.
In learning of the gift, Kendra said, "Colt and I are so grateful to have Penny home with us due to the help of many generous individuals and organizations. We're also thankful to Invisible Fence for their kind donation and for helping to raise awareness of lost pets and solutions like identifiable microchips and other ways to keep them safer."
