NEW YORK, March 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Professional information services company Penton took home two Neal awards at the 60th annual Jesse H. Neal Awards last week, in addition to the 2014 Timothy White Award. The Neal Awards are recognized as the top honor for editorial excellence in business-to-business information.
Aviation Week's November 18, 2013 cover story, "Rethinking the Unthinkable," a special report on the unfolding of the "second nuclear age" and New Hope Natural Media's Predictive Consumer Segmentation a new study identifying five distinct consumer segments regarding the acceptance and adoption of healthy habits and products, both won in the Best Subject-Related Package category.
Aviation Week Naval Editor Michael Fabey also received the Timothy White award for editorial integrity for breaking through a wall of secrecy to report on potentially life-threatening system and design problems with the U.S. Navy's newest surface warship, the Littoral Combat Ship USS Freedom.
"Penton is dedicated to providing our daily users with the insightful content they want during parts of the day when they want it, and in digital formats they find most convenient," said Joe Territo, Senior Vice President of Content, Penton. "These awards validate the strength of our brands and talented journalists and the high caliber content they produce. We are very pleased to be honored by our industry peers for our commitment to editorial excellence for our users."
Paying tribute to the Neal Award winners, ABM Managing Director Mike Marchesano said, "Judging this year's Neal Awards was no easy task due to the impressive caliber of top-notch B2B brands that have gone above and beyond the works of their peers. We at ABM are proud to celebrate these outstanding journalists today, especially as we mark the 60th anniversary of the Neal Awards."
Established in 1955, the Jesse H. Neal Awards recognize and reward editorial excellence in business media. The awards are named after ABM's first managing director, who remained active in promoting the industry throughout his life. Winning entries were selected for exhibiting journalistic enterprise, service to the field and editorial craftsmanship.
Entries are divided into three classifications according to the brand's advertising and circulation revenue, with 12 editorial categories within each size classification and nine categories that do not require revenue figures. Material must have been published between December 1, 2012, and November 30, 2013.
