SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Penton's WardsAuto Student Design Competition, which focuses on the automotive interior, will unveil its finalists on Wednesday, April 13 at 5 p.m. in the Tech Hub of SAE World Congress, held at Cobo Center in Detroit. Students were tasked with creating a vehicle interior for a sports car for the year 2030 that is distinctive, fun to drive on the track or open road, but also features autonomous capabilities for city commuting. To register to attend, visit http://www.sae.org/congress/attend.
This year's competition is WardsAuto's seventh collaboration with Detroit's prestigious College for Creative Studies (CCS), which has graduated many of the auto industry's top designers. The competition program is sponsored by interior suppliers IAC and Lear.
The finalists and winners are chosen by a panel of automaker design executives recruited by CCS and WardsAuto.
Drew Winter, senior editor for WardsAuto said, "This project is geared toward affluent professionals who are avid car enthusiasts and want to introduce their children to the joy of motorsports as well as automotive engineers that like to see the students new ideas and 'pure creativity' in design. As always, we look forward to seeing the innovative interiors that the students will create."
The grand prize winner along with winners of a special EcoBlend Award from IAC and the Innovation Award from Lear will be announced during the WardsAuto Interiors Conference, which takes place May 11 at Detroit's Cobo Center.
