Peter Meyers Joins Citia as Vice-President, Editorial & Content Innovation
Publishing and Technology Veteran Brings 20 Years Experience to Groundbreaking Editorial Company
NEW YORK, Aug. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Peter Meyers has been named Vice-President, Editorial & Content Innovation for Citia. "I'm thrilled to have Peter lead our editorial vision," said CEO Linda Holliday. "He brings a rare talent mix: world-class writer, seasoned manager, publishing visionary. He's a true multimedia executive and perfect for Citia's goal to remake the reading experience."
Meyers will oversee Citia's editorial development, building on the company's path-breaking card-based reading system. Key responsibilities include product pipeline scaling and devising new ways to showcase media partner content.
"Citia gets the challenge of digital publishing exactly right," said Meyers. "It's not about souping up text with more media. It's about re-thinking why readers 'hire' books and magazines, and then figuring out how to serve today's high velocity reading habits."
Meyers has deep experience as a writer, publisher, and interactive reading designer. He's covered technology for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and Wired. At O'Reilly Media, he led the Missing Manual group as editor and associate publisher. He co-founded Digital Learning Interactive, a pioneering online textbook publisher, acquired in 2004 by Thomson Learning. He's also the author of several books, including Breaking the Page: Transforming Books and the Reading Experience (O'Reilly, 2012). Meyers graduated from Harvard College and has an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop.
About Citia Books
Citia makes important ideas travel farther, faster. It reorganizes and condenses business and technology titles onto virtual index cards. Each "idea card" lives in a 3D interface that lets readers explore new concepts.
Citia's card-based system frees ebooks from paginated, linear constraints. Designed for the touchscreen, it offers intuitive navigation that can be emailed, tweeted, or posted to Facebook.
Citia has partnerships with major publishers including Penguin, HarperCollins, and Perseus.
"I started the company because our media haven't evolved as quickly as our hardware — or our habits," said Citia founder and CEO Linda Holliday. "Today's ebooks are simply digitized versions of the same medium that's been around since Gutenberg. This is the moment when reading can be truly reinvented for new devices — made smarter, more visual, more social, and more fun."
