Piedmont Natural Gas Elects Phillip D. Wright to Board of Directors

CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of Piedmont Natural Gas (NYSE: PNY) has elected Mr. Phillip D. Wright to the Board of the Company effective June 1, 2012.

Mr. Wright served as senior vice president of corporate development for the Williams Companies (NYSE: WMB) up until his retirement on April 1. Prior to that time, Mr. Wright held a number of senior executive positions with Williams, serving as president of Williams' gas pipeline business, chief operating officer of Williams Pipeline Partners L.P., senior vice president and chief restructuring officer of Williams and president and chief executive officer for Williams Energy Services Company. Prior to joining Williams in 1989, Mr. Wright worked for Conoco where he last held the position of general manager of operations for natural gas and gas products, North America.

Mr. Wright holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Oklahoma State University. Mr. Wright has also served in leadership positions for several industry associations including chairman of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) in 2008, chairman of the executive committee of the Association of Oil Pipelines, and first vice chairman of the Southern Gas Association. Wright currently serves as a director of Aegion Inc., a global infrastructure protection and rehabilitation company.
