Pilsner Urquell To Support DRAFT Magazine On Search For Ideal Bar To Host Founder's Day Celebration
CHICAGO, July 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Pilsner Urquell, the world's first golden beer, and DRAFT Magazine are partnering to find the ideal bar to host Pilsner Urquell's Founder's Day Celebration. The Founder's Day celebration centers around Pilsner Urquell's dedication to freshness and quality. Last year, the brand introduced express-cold shipping to the United States, delivering all Pilsner Urquell in refrigerated containers. This process helps ensure drinkers in the U.S have the same fresh-tasting Pilsner Urquell experience as those who drink it in the Czech Republic, where Josef Groll first brewed it.
Starting today, legal drinking age consumers can go to www.draftmag.com/pilsner to vote for bars they believe adhere to serving the highest quality draft beer throughout the United States. After a DRAFT Magazine judging panel narrows down the list to 25, the top vote-getting establishment will become the official host of Founder's Day. Fans can expect to enjoy a rare unfiltered and unpasteurized treat during Founder's Day celebrations on November 11, 2013, which marks the 171st anniversary of the first batch of Pilsner Urquell. Currently only two bars in the world sell the unfiltered and unpasteurized version of Pilsner Urquell.
"The draft quality search is a tip of the cap to all of the bars that take great passion in serving the best and freshest beer possible," said Chad Wodskow, Pilsner Urquell brand manager. "We support DRAFT Magazine's contest and look forward to honoring these establishments with a tasty and rare treat for our dedicated Pilsner Urquell fans."
Fans can log on to www.draftmag.com/pilsner to vote for the draft bar they think is most deserving. The website will also have information about the history of Pilsner Urquell and upcoming dates for the draft quality search. Fans that participate in the contest will be entered for the chance to win a home draft system. No purchase necessary to enter or win. Must be a legal U.S. resident, 21+. Begins 7/8/13 and ends 7/30/13. For complete official rules on the DRAFT Magazine bar contest and home draft system sweepstakes, visit www.draftmag.com/pilsner.
"For the past seven years, DRAFT has been at the forefront of the burgeoning U.S. beer scene," said Trevor Cravens, CEO of DRAFT Magazine. "We're excited to team up with Pilsner Urquell and bring this rare beer experience to our readers. Just another way DRAFT is delivering 'Life on Tap'."
About Pilsner Urquell
Created in Plzen, Czech Republic in 1842, Pilsner Urquell revolutionized the brewing industry as the world's first golden beer, creating a new style of beer that became known as pilsner, named after its city of origin. For more than a century and a half, Pilsner Urquell has been offering discerning beer drinkers a balanced and refreshing beer that has become the standard against which all others are compared. Nearly 90 percent of the world's beer is a variation of the original golden beer, making pilsner the most popular beer style in the world and further establishing Pilsner Urquell as a true original.
