Piston Captures 2 Gold and 3 Silvers for Cars.com at American Advertising Federation's American Advertising Awards
In 46-Year History of Competition Piston is First Agency in San Diego to Take Home Five Awards
SAN DIEGO, June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Piston took home five Gold and Silver wins at the American Advertising Awards for digital campaign work for Cars.com at the American Advertising Federation (AAF) event on May 31 in Boca Raton.
Wrapping up the AAF's 2014 AdAmerica conference (www.americanadvertisingfederation.com), the awards concluded the demanding, annual three-stage competition that begins at the local Ad Club level, progresses to 15 district competitions and then culminates at the national level where the best of the national winners from the districts face off.
Independent and full-service agency Piston competed against more than 40,000 entries to make it to the winner's circle of more than 200 professional awards (winners.americanadvertisingawards.com/awards2014). Piston was the only agency from San Diego to reach the national leagues this year and the first ever to do so with five winners. Piston is also the first agency in San Diego to win a Gold award since 2008.
Piston's winning work for the Cars.com "ALL DRIVE. No Drama." campaign included 2 Gold awards for the 2013 digital brand campaign and the banner ad "Car Chase," and 3 Silver awards for the 2014 digital brand campaign and the banner ads "Walk in the Park," and "Cheer" (www.pistonagency.com).
Executive Creative Director David Schafer said, "As an independently owned mid-size agency, it's an incredible accomplishment to receive national recognition for our creative work. We strive to be strategic and fearless in delivering exceptional work for all of our clients, and couldn't be more appreciative that Cars.com continues to embrace our approach to creativity."

About the American Advertising Awards
The American Advertising Awards, formerly the ADDYs, is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting more than 40,000 entries every year in local AAF Club (Ad Club) competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising. Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local Ad Club phase is the first of a three-tier, national competition. Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants vie to win ADDY Awards—recognition as the very best in their markets. At the second tier, local ADDY winners compete against winners from other local clubs in one of 15 district competitions. District ADDY winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national stage of the American Advertising Awards. Entry in your local Ad Club competition is the first step toward winning a national Gold or Silver.
