Planning a Holiday While Potty Training
LONDON, August 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Taking your little one on holiday and away from a familiar routine can seem a little daunting, but help is on hand thanks to Huggies® Pull-Ups®. The potty training experts are encouraging parents to continue toilet training their little ones when they are away from home.
The Huggies® Pull-Ups® potty training website is a great resource for parents to use throughout their child's potty training journey and has some sound advice for parents.
Potty training expert and child psychologist Emma Kenny offers parents the following advice when toilet training their little one this summer:
'Start as you mean to go on, offering your little one a set routine from the start will ensure consistency throughout.
Firstly, don't forget to pack your child's potty, keep it in a place that reminds them of a similar spot in your own home. Decorating the potty with stickers or items found on holiday can be a great way of keeping the potty fun on holiday, and lets your little one retain a sense of ownership.
The warm weather can actually be beneficial! While the weather remains nice, you can let your little one run around in just a pair of Huggies® Pull-Ups® potty training pants. What's more, Huggies® Pull-Ups® have a unique wetness indicator on the front which teaches a child about being wet and dry. The wetness indicator is displayed through a Disney® graphic which fades when wet, allowing parents to clearly show their child when they need to sit on the potty.
Ultimately, accidents will happen. The excitement that comes with a summer trip means your little one may leave it too late to make it to the loo on time. It's all about staying calm and being prepared. When facing long journeys, or delays at airports, using the potty can be tricky. Huggies® Pull-Ups® can provide a great comfort when a toilet or potty is not readily available, without putting your child back in nappies. They look and feel more like a pant, but still have the absorbency to give you peace of mind. Remember to ask your little one every half an hour whether they need to use the toilet, and ensure frequent breaks are scheduled into the route.
From the very beginning of a little ones potty training journey, it is important to be consistent and put them in a pair of Huggies® Pull-Ups® potty training pants during the day and Huggies® Pull-Ups® Night-time when they go to bed. Pull-Ups® Night-Time provide extra absorbency and increased protection throughout the night, ensuring little ones stay dry.
Even when going away on holiday it is important not to disrupt your child's potty training routine and to adapt it around your holiday. Be patient, encouraging and above all, stick with it!
