PointRight® Pro 30™ Rehospitalization Metric Hits User Milestone PointRight Moves Corporate Offices to Cambridge; Adds Esteemed MIT Faculty Member to Its Board of Directors
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Aug. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- PointRight Inc., (www.pointright.com), the industry-standard analytics leader for healthcare providers and payers, announces that its PointRight® Pro 30™ rehospitalizations metric is now in use with over 9,000 skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) in the United States. The metric, which was validated by Brown University, adopted by the American Health Care Association and incorporated into its TrendTracker product in 2013, has enabled the metric to become the de facto industry standard in measuring case-mix adjusted rehospitalizations rates.
In addition to AHCA's adoption of the metric, the metric is in use by a variety of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) nationally, which represents a variety of SNFs in their respective networks. Based upon its success, AHCA has formally submitted the measure to the National Quality Forum (NQF).
The PointRight Pro 30 measure gives clients access to two important real-time rates: observed and case-mix adjusted rehospitalization rates for both Medicare and all-payer groups, and compares these with national benchmarks. The service features root-cause analysis data as well as resident average length of stay (ALOS) data. It also provides the tools that facilities need to assess why residents returned to the hospital, determine areas of highest rehospitalization as well as possible preventative measures, and crosswalk the rehospitalized resident with other outcomes to improve quality of care.
"We provided the PointRight Pro 30 metric to AHCA so it would be readily available to the industry in the public domain," said Steven Littlehale, Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at PointRight. "We wanted to have a deep and lasting impact on industry by empowering providers to understand how their case-mix impacts their rehospitalizations so they could proactively act upon them. The analytics experts at PointRight, together with our renowned clinicians and researchers, make us uniquely positioned to make such a lasting contribution to the industry. We have forged the way our industry understands and measures rehospitalizations, which has a huge impact on quality, reimbursements and compliance, not to mention the relationships that providers form with hospitals and other referral sources crucial to their operations. We are tremendously proud of this achievement."
As part of PointRight's continued growth trajectory, the company has recently moved its headquarters from Lexington, Massachusetts to Cambridge, the innovation hub of Boston. The company is pleased to announce that Munther A. Dahleh, Ph.D., an esteemed faculty member with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, has joined its Board of Directors. Dr. Dahleh is the William A. Coolidge Professor of EECS at MIT. He is currently the acting director of the Engineering Systems Division, and Interim director of the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems.
The proliferation of the PointRight Pro 30 rehospitalization metric, together with the move to Cambridge and its new affiliation with MIT, are all major milestones in PointRight's strategy to forge its position as the leader in healthcare analytics.
